Retina "Ret" June 20, 2012

Retina “Ret” is more than man’s best friend or a woman’s cuddle buddy. Not only can he perform tricks, fetch toys by name, and is bell trained, his special skills go to the next level. His family is very special and unique. His dad, Aaron, is visually impaired. Ret serves as a guide (service animal) leading Aaron when walking & helping him be more aware of his surroundings. Aaron is also a physical therapist, and Ret can be found during the week at the Skilled Nursing Facility helping provide therapeutic services to the elderly & young. He is able to help motivate patients to become mentally & emotionally stronger & healthier. Ret extends his services to his fellow furry friends & philanthropy organizations by running 5k, 8k, and even 10ks to help raise money & awareness for these organizations. Beyond his kind heart, his affection for others, and athleticism, he is also a nationwide traveler. He travels frequently to support Aaron at triathlons & speaking events. Among cities he has visited are Las Vegas, New York, Austin, Los Angeles, and even hometowns such as Farmington, MI & Birmingham, AL. He’s also had the opportunity to be a guest at the W Hotel in Hollywood for the ESPYs, and meet some amazing ESPY finalist athletes. He has become such a frequent traveler, many have taken notice. He will be featured in an article from The Examiner. Ret is truly charitable & more than a best friend. He hopes to continue to support causes and help create opportunities for others.
